Carla Clark who works at Trains Hair and Beauty Salon is a regular team player for Hull-based ladies ice hockey team Kingston Diamonds. Carla started training with the Club at the age of ten and now, at nineteen, is a regular member of the team who play in the British Ice Hockey league with home matches at weekends playing at Hull Ice Arena against opponents such as Bracknell, Guildford, Solihull, Sheffield etc. playing league matches on a home and away basis. Carla’s progress has been recognised by call-ups to the Team England squad and she has represented Team England in international matches. Following this success she has also played in the Great Britain Ladies International Team against Poland, Finland and Holland. Kingston Diamonds are well established with men’s, ladies and a thriving junior section. Ice hockey is a very physical sport played by teams of 6 – 3 forwards, 2 defenders and a goalkeeper with rolling substitutions. Carla plays forward, a highly skilled position, not only trying to score goals but also trying to set up the other forwards as well. Ice hockey does not, unfortunately, get the sports coverage it deserves, particularly in the local papers with home matches not attracting many supporters, but thoroughly enjoyed by those who do attend. The team is now on a break for Christmas with matches resuming on Saturday 21st January at Bracknall, followed by a home match versus Guildford on Saturday 18th February, 4.30 pm face off. The future for Carla looks very exciting with the international team looking to qualify for the next Winter Olympic Games.
