East Yorkshire Veterans Complete A Double Treble

Dave Wilkinson (Stroke) and Bob Jones (Bow Steers) of Hull Kingston Rowing Club racing at pace Having recovered from their record setting 50k race from Lincoln to Boston as part of a sculling 8, Dave and Bob have returned to racing in their double scull. With an average age of 75, the double duo defended their Masters titles for the third year running at Doncaster’s ‘Head of the Don’ (4000 metres) on September 1st and repeated their success at ‘Ancholme Head of the River’, Brigg (2700 metres) on 8th October. This is the third year in succession the pair have won both events. Their final race of 2017 is at York on 19th November where they will be competing in the ‘York Small Boats Head’ (3,500k) finishing at Skeldergate Bridge. Dave lives in Hull and so much of their land training is done separately with Bob, a Hornsea resident, doing most of his in the gymnasium at Hornsea’s Leisure Centre. They also train together on the water at the Welton Waters Adventure Centre where Kingston Hull Rowing Cub keeps their fleet of training and racing boats. The Club caters for all age groups and skills levels from learner/novice to championship class and welcomes new members. More information can be found on the cub website www.hullrowingclub.org
