Support Hornsea Bike Event

Last year the HBE was set up as non-profit unincorporated charity with the sole purpose of managing a motorcycle event in Hornsea. The idea was to encourage motorcycle riders from all over the country to visit and see what East Yorkshire and Hornsea can offer and to increase public interest. The challenge was to do this and make it family friendly so that the whole of the community could enjoy and participate. Last year the event in Hall Garth Park was blessed with sunshine and the crowds came on bikes, in cars and on foot to listen to the live bands and walk around the many attractions for both adults and children. This was all organised by a dedicated committee of non-professionals in the field of public events and all the helpers on the day. This involved working with local councils, emergency services, traders, caterers, performing bands and sponsors. This year HBE are again looking to build on all the good work and lessons learnt from last year, but this year we have new challenges. We have so far not secured any major sponsors for this year’s event. This puts a financial strain on HBE as the cost of insurance, toilet facilities and medical cover will be increased due to the success of the 2015 event. The HORNSEA BIKE EVENT is planned for 21st August Hall Garth Park starting at 09.30hrs and finishing 20.00hrs. There will be Catering stands to suit all tastes as well as a number of bike trade stands for motorcycles, clothing and parts. We are also pleased to announce that our main charity the Yorkshire Air Ambulance have confirmed their Helicopter will be landing for the public to view. We are supporting two other charities: the British Biker Relief Fund which supports fallen motorcyclists and their families in Britain; and The Eve Appeal Gynaecology Cancer Research Fund is also to be supported by the HBE in the form of two world record attempts which will be declared in the next few months. The entertainment has also been developed, we will now have live bands performing from 11.00hrs to 20.00hrs. We have also been able to book the famous Ruby Reds from ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ to perform. Last year’s Motorcycle Show was so popular and it will be a big feature this year. The children’s fair rides will also be available which proved a bit hit with the young families. The Committee are working hard behind the scenes to provide various bike related entertainment but the lack of sponsors has forced us to rely on the generosity of the motorcycling community.
