Bike Event 2017- The biggest yet?

HORNSEA BIKE EVENT 27th August 2017     Just a couple days after this edition of the Hornsea Community News hits your letterbox, the third Hornsea Bike Event will take place, in Hall Garth Park on Sunday 27th August.  Last year more than 2500 motorcycles, trikes and motor scooters, attended the event. This year, Sid Tracey, the Chair of the Event is predicting twice that number will roar into town. Despite the ferocious look of some of the bikers, they are in fact some of the friendliest people you could ever meet. Amongst them will be representatives from Bikes Against Bullies UK, a group set up by bikers. The aim is to create awareness surrounding bullying and offer support to victims and their families. B.A.B are one of three charities being supported by this year’s Event. Once again Yorkshire Air Ambulance will be beneficiaries from the Event. They will be landing in Hall Garth Park at 1pm, and staying until they get their next “shout”. The Event’s third charity is Aim Higher, a charity that is promoting social inclusion among children and young adults with autism or mental health conditions. They, and their parents, carers and families, are often excluded from attending the everyday events that the rest of us take for granted. The day before the Bike Event, on Saturday 26th August, AH have organised a family fun day in Hall Garth Park. There will be face painters, mascots, a sensory area, silent disco, bouncy castle, live music, a barbeque, a children’s fairground and an art competition. Many of the food stalls, trade stalls and fairground rides, will be there for the Saturday Fun Day, and the Sunday Bike Event.   Charity Raffle The star prize in the raffle is a custom-built Suzuki GS250 TT. The bike has been lovingly restored by the Ribbon of Black Motor Cycle Rally Club. It purrs along like dream. Numerous other valuable raffle prizes, from many different generous donors, are also on offer: with a second prize of a holiday, and a third prize of a 49” television. The raffle will be drawn at 5 pm. The Ride-In: The real stars of the Event are bikes, trikes and motor scooters. In association with the Hornsea Garden Centre, Sigglesthorne, the Event has again arranged a ride-in from the Garden Centre to Hall Garth park. Last year, cheering people lined the road side at each of the villages along the route. The riders and their guests, were then given a great welcome as they rode through Hornsea and into the park. Hornsea Garden Centre are sponsoring the ride-in. This year we will again have a display by Lord Atom and his mono-wheel motorbike. There will be two entertainment stages. The Band Stage: with such diverse bands as; Storm, The Humbertones, The Hyding, The Jackdaws,  Area 51, Chord On Blues, The Interceptors, Fallen Fields, Last Exile, and Dirty Halo.   The variety stage: with acts; Colin Moon, Exposed, The Andrini Sisters, Miss Cherry Pie, The Ruby Reds, The Brink and Kelly Jordan. The Entertainment starts at 10:30 in the Morning.   Stalls and Trade Exhibits There will be many food stalls, craft exhibitions, trade exhibits and of course, Hornsea Bike Event’s famous biker bear stall. Hornsea’s own Everquip Motorcyle Racing are one of the sponsors of the Event, and will be bringing along their racing machines.   Programmes The Hornsea Bike Event Programmes will be on sale at multiple outlets around Hornsea, plus in Hall Garth Park on the day. The programmes are nominally 50p, but any amount will be accepted. REMEMBER THE EVENT IS COMPLETELY FREE. So please give generously to our bucket collection.
