Hornsea Music Society’s March concert

In March, the Hornsea Music Society were planning to welcome the Lux Quintet from Cardiff.  Unfortunately, the quintet have had to cancel, owing to circumstances beyond their control.  This was very disappointing news, but plans for a replacement programme are well under way. Riverside Brass, an impressive performance group made up of ten current and ex-professional players has agreed to step in to save the day.  Between them, they have worked with the big names of the Brass Banding world, including Black Dyke Mills, Brighouse and Rastrick and many other championship level bands.  Their leader is Dixon Laing, who is well known in the area, not least for being one of the founders of the East Yorkshire Motor Services band.  Recent fund-raising concerts include Holy Trinity, Hull, in aid of the RNLI, and St. Mary’s, Beverley, to raise money for the stained glass restoration fund. The concert is on Saturday 19th March, at Hornsea United Reformed Church (HU18 1PG), starting at 7.30pm.  Tickets are £8.50 for adults, and are available from Vernon Galleries, Newbegin, Hornsea (01964 532986).  Accompanied children get in free.
