Visithornsea.co.uk launched

Let’s Go Hornsea successfully applied for an East Riding of Yorkshire Council High Street Fund grant last year and have since been working hard with Hornsea Community News and local company, Signs and Graphics Etc. to create a new website for the town. The site acts as a ‘one stop shop’ for residents, visitors and businesses, providing everything from an events dairy and business directories to information about local attractions and useful numbers for people new to the area.
The aim of the website is to increase the profile of the diverse range of businesses in Hornsea and to increase footfall, by residents and visitors, by making information about what is on offer in Hornsea clear and easily accessible on the internet. It is intended that local community groups and sports associations will share information through the website too.
Chairman of Lets Go Hornsea, Councillor John Whittle said;
‘This is a website by the community for the community and will be an excellent resource for visitors and businesses alike. The funding we have secured has enabled us to get the website up and running, but it will be down to local support to make it a success. We have listed many local businesses and community groups that we have details for, but if you’re not on there please get in touch so that we can add you to the directory for free. There are also sponsorship opportunities for local enterprises to help the site to flourish and grow over the years. I would like to personally thank Paul Hanson and Simon Tudor for spearheading this project.’
Eventually local groups will be able to upload their events directly to the events diary but until then groups are asked to email: paul@visithornsea.co.uk with the details.
Councillor Jane Evison, who leads on the East Riding of Yorkshire Council High Street Fund said;
‘We are increasingly reliant on the internet, particularly through mobile devices, when making decisions on where we visit and what we do when we get there. Projects like this one help towns build their online presence and are an important way to bring new visitors to our towns and high streets in the East Riding. We are therefore very pleased to be supporting this local endeavour.’
The Website launches this week, ahead of the summer season. www.visithornsea.co.uk
