Hornsea Cottage Hospital League of Friends
You certainly know who your friends are in times of difficulty and the residents of this community plus the visitors have risen to the occasion with their enthusiasm to sign the League’s petition opposing the possible closure of, or reduction in service to the Hornsea Cottage Hospital Minor Injury service. At the time of writing we had over 2,427 signatures with more to be collected from the caravan sites between Skipsea and Mappleton, the surrounding villages where petition packs were sent to the Parish Councils plus various locations in the town centre. Our petition signing up at the Tesco store on Saturday 7th May encouraged and supported by Graham Stuart, has added a further 820 making 3,247 so far.
There is still time to add your support to the petition by signing at our next Coffee Morning on Saturday 4th June 10.00 am to 12 noon in the Parish Hall which also happens to be Membership Day when you can either join or renew your membership. This event will host a cake stall, jewellery, preserves stalls and the ever popular Ukulele Group. Leaflets about the opening times and the treatment you can receive at the Minor Injury Unit will be available for you to take away.
Our MP Graham Stuart has called for a rally outside the hospital at 2.00 pm on the same day (Saturday 4th June) to support the opposition to any possible closure of the Minor Injury Unit.
Your support would be most welcome so please come and join us and let us show the powers that be that the good people of Hornsea and District will not take this proposal to reduce services lying down.
