The mayor’s end of year message

2016 has been a great year for Hornsea, and I feel privileged to have been Mayor this year.  Amongst other things, we have celebrated the 50th anniversary of Hornsea Carnival, seen the second Hornsea Bike Event and also seen new events such as the circus in Hallgarth Park. We have seen plans for a new and improved  Hornsea Southern Boat Compound and Visitor Centre approved by the East Riding.  We have learnt that the Hornsea Regeneration Partnership is to be the recipient of funds from the East Riding, which can bring further improvements to the town in the form of the Hornsea Pottery Trail. It feels as though Hornsea is seeing a renaissance, with more visitors and investment in the town than has been seen in recent years.  Next year promises to be another prosperous year for Hornsea and across the region as we enter into Hull’s Year of Culture.  I hope that as a town we can embrace the changes as we look forward to a great 2017. Residents of Hornsea are more than welcome to join me at the Mayor’s Epiphany Carol Service at the United Reform Church on Friday 6th January 2017 at 7 pm.  Merry Christmas.  Lee Walton.
