As reported in last month’s edition, Let’s Go Hornsea, in partnership with the Hornsea Area Regeneration Partnership (HARP), has secured just under £5,000 from the East Riding of Yorkshire Council High Street Fund to create a new website for Hornsea.
The website will act as a digital high street and an online community hub for the town. The aim is to increase the profile of the diverse range of businesses in Hornsea and to increase footfall, by residents and visitors, by making information about what is on offer in Hornsea clear and easily accessible on the internet. It is intended that local community groups and sports associations will share information through the website too.
The website will be directly linked to other key sites, such as Visit Hull and East Yorkshire (VHEY), Welcome to Yorkshire, East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Hornsea Town Council and Hornsea Chamber of Trade and will offer a one-stop-shop for people wanting to know what is available and what is happening in Hornsea.
Mark Elvin from local business, Signs and Graphics, has been appointed as the website developer to design and create the website. Much of the work collating the information will be done through volunteer time given by members of Let’s Go Hornsea and by this newspaper.
A key part of the site will be a free business and organisations directory. All businesses and community organisations will be given a free listing showing their organisations name, what they offer and contact details. If the business/organisation would like more details, pictures, links to their website etc… they can pay an annual fee which will be used, along with some sponsorship opportunities to cover the ongoing costs of the site into the future. The website will be launched in early 2016
